Glenn, the firm's founder, served as member of the Boulder, Colorado, Police Department from 1981 until his retirement in April, 1992. While a member of that agency, he was the Division Chief of both Patrol and Detective Divisions. He also served as the acting Chief of Police.
He was recruited to Colorado from a position with the San Jose, California, Police Department which he joined in 1956. Glenn left San Jose as a Lieutenant, having served in the Bureaus of Field Operations, Administration, and Investigations. One of the many highlights of his career was with his participation in the implementation and development of what has become known as the "San Jose Model-Field Training And Evaluation Program."
Glenn is a recognized expert in the areas of training, evaluation, and supervision, and management. He is well known for his presentation skills. He has appeared on radio and television. Additionally, he is an accomplished author and is in demand as a public speaker.
He holds a Masters Degree in the Administration of Justice (with a dual emphasis on Public Administration and Instructional Development) and a Bachelors Degree in Police Science. Glenn is a member of numerous Criminal Justice organizations including the International Association of Chiefs of Police, International Association of Women Police Officers, California Association of Police Training Officers, California Association of Criminal Justice Educators, and the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers. Glenn was the Executive Director of the National Association of Field Training Officers from 1993 until May, 2000.
Glenn is the 2001 recipient of the Ed Nowicki Lifetime Achievement Award presented in February by the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers (ASLET). This is not an award given annually and Glenn is the second-only individual to receive this honor.
In 2007, Glenn was the first recipient of an award given by the National Association of Field Training Officers. The award was named the "Glenn Kaminsky Achievement Award". The award read "For outstanding service to NAFTO and the commitment to excellence in providing training and leadership in Field Training and Evaluation Programs".
